Support Your Supply // A Nursing Mommas Snack!

We’ve made it seven months breastfeeding and even though Luna enjoys a few fruits and avocado she’s still eating about 90% breast milk.  At this point in our nursing journey I’m noticing more and more that food is everything when your supplying the nutrients for two people. If my body isn’t getting enough of something it tells me (by making me cranky or super emotional)! Making sure I have enough snacks to eat is crucial for my mood and keeping my supply strong for my sweet baby is a non-negotiable since we are still aren’t using bottles at all. When I start to get hangry these banana oat muffins are another one of my go-to’s! Packed with tons of supply boosting goodness and real food ingredients they get gobbled up quickly. Then BAM! I’m feeling good again. THANK GOODNESS!
Coconut sugar, coconut flour, oats, flax seeds, chai seeds, fennel oil, copaiba oil…those are some seriously amazing ingredients for you momma! These muffins are the perfect support for your supply whether you’re trying to establish or maintain but before I hand over the recipe I want to chat about cooking with essential oils. Several Young Living oils are safe to cook with but always remember that not all oils
are created equally!! This recipe is only to be made using Young Living Essential Oils- I personally wouldn’t trust any other essential oil company. At Young Living we are SO PROUD of our Vitality Line and have
used them in creating these recipes!! What is the Vitality Line?
Essential oils that have passed the FDA requirements for suggested internal use- so you can feel 100% confident serving these up to your family and friends! Ingesting essential oils is a touchy subject, too much of a good thing can be bad for you…like water poisoning for example! Safety is import when using oils so always make sure to read labels, follow recommended usage on the label, and of course always do what you feel is safe and comfortable for you and your family!

Now on to the goodies!

What You’ll Need//

1 ½ cups flour
1 ¼ cups unsweetened almond milk
½ cup coconut sugar, packed
3 mashed ripe bananas
1 large egg
2 tablespoons local honey
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
¼ cup coconut flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 tsp cinnamon
¾ cup mixture of flax seeds, rolled oats, and chai seeds
1 drop copabia essential oil
1 drop fennel essential oil
(Vitamin D optional)

Crunchy Oat Topping:

⅓ cup oats
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 tablespoon raw honey or real maple syrup

1 teaspoon coconut sugar

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and grease your muffin tin if necessary! In a large bowl, beat the coconut oil and honey together with a whisk. Add egg and beat well. Mix in the mashed bananas and milk, followed by the baking soda, vanilla extract, essential oils, salt, and cinnamon. Now for the dry ingredients! Add both flours and your oat and seed mix to the bowl and combine with a large spoon. If you’d like to add any additional mix-ins, like nuts, chocolate or dried fruit, now’s the time to fold them in! Then let’s make the topping! This is definitely my favorite part of the whole muffin! Stir together your ingredients into a small bowl until well combined and set aside until your ready to top! Divide the batter evenly between the 11 muffin cups, filling each cup about two-thirds full. Sprinkle the tops of the muffins with a small amount of your crunch oat topping. Bake muffins for 23 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a muffin comes out clean. Place the muffin tin on a cooling rack to cool. You might need to run a butter knife along the outer edge of the muffins to loosen them from the pan. You can enjoy these warm on their own or with a little nut butter spread over the top for a little bit o protein too. Muffins are great because you can pack so much punch into such a tasty little treat. I love whipping these up for breakfast when I feel like I could use some support or as a snack during the day when my nursing hunger strikes!

I hope that you love this recipe and that it rescues you when you’re feeling a snack attack coming along! if you make this recipe I’d love to hear how you enjoyed it! Let me know!

Cold Weather Diffuser Oil Blend.

Winter is here and it seems like my essential oil stash always gets more use when the cold weather hits. Diffusing oils is one of the easiest ways to start using essential oils, so if you’re a beginner and not sure how to start using your oils this one is for you! If you’re already a pro then you know that there are so many diffuser blends it’s almost overwhelming. You can find everything from headache relievers to blends that smell like gingerbread cookies! I love to diffuse warm and spicy scents during the cold months, so this blend is always my go to. The hint of citrus is my favorite part, it makes my whole house smell so cozy. I also love the immune boosting qualities of the oils in this blend, perfect for keeping all the winter bugs away!
Each essential oil hold it’s own magical powers, the oils in this blend are great for:
enhancing your immune system
boosting your mood
kicking stress to the curb
helping to keep seasonal sicknesses away
To make this blend combine the following oils in your diffuser:
2 drops Thieves Essential Oil
3 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
2-3 drops Orange Essential Oil

Let me know if you try this blend out, i’d love to know what you think!
What are some of your favorite essential oil blends to diffuse around the house?

Seasonal Support Roll-On Oil Blend.

I don’t know about you, but during the spring and summer the kids and I are usually plagued with seasonal isuues. Itchy eyes, sneezing, runny noses, the works. A few years ago when I started using essential oils I stumbled across this really great oil blend specifically for these issues and it has been our go-to ever since. I usually mix my oils and carrier into a cute little roller bottle that I can throw in my bag and whip it out at the first sign of a sneeze! It’s such an easy homemade remedy and I swear by it!

3 drops Lemon Essential Oil
3 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
2 tbs carrier oil of your choice (we used jojoba)

A little rub behind the ears and the same blend diffused in the house (and car) makes everyone feel better in no time!
Let me know if you’ve tried this blend or if you plan to, I’d love to hear how it worked for you.
